Misty mountains, wide white sands, stout stone walls, yielding moors, the ancient buildings of the north . . . These paintings evoke a time and place both gentle and wild, open and protected, familiar and remote. This series, which currently comprises more than one hundred paintings, most now held in private collections, continues to grow and illuminate more and more of the great northern landscapes of the British Isles from the Outer Hebrides to the English Channel with their distinctive cottages and castles, uplands and valleys.
